Painting in what could be described as an "Old Masters" - almost Renaissance - style, Dongmin Lai demonstrates a mastery of brushwork that is both direct and spontaneous. Many of his works depicting a rural lifestyle in China make it appear almost medieval in its apparent lack of modernization.
Born in China in 1957, Dongmin Lai received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Beijing Teacher's University and studied at China's Academy of Fine Arts. In 1986 Dongmin Lai became a member of the Chinese Fine Art Association and proceeded to hold several shows in the National Gallery and the Capitol Museum in Beijing. Two of his paintings were chosen for the Museum's permanent collection. In October of 1991 he was awarded China's prestigious Silver Medal for oil painting.
Dongmin Lai paints in very deep, rich colours and as well as his scenes of country life, he paints Chinese landscape, including the canals of Suchow, and exquisite, finely detailed portraits.
He has been painting professionally for about sixteen years, the last four of which have been spent in British Columbia. His work may be found in private and corporate collections in China, Singapore, Taiwan, Japan, the United States and Canada.

Tove Sorensen
Tove was born in Denmark and attended her first art classes in Copenhagen before she immigrated to Canada in 1955.
Tove is a well known Kelowna Artist, equally accomplished with Watercolour or Acrylic. She captures the unique beauty of the Thompson Okanagan Valley in her landscape paintings, at times she will show a different side of her love for painting with her abstracts.
Art has always been part of her life. The beauty of the Okanagan orchards, vineyards and lakes inspires her. She loves to work on location where she can interact directly with the surroundings. She paints in her studio from sketches and photos she has collected.
Toves paintings are in corporate, as well as private collections in Canada, the United States, Japan, Australia, Germany, England, and Denmark. Recently the Canadian Federal Government and the Cancer Centre for the Southern Interior added her paintings to their collections.
Her work is published in "Brushes in The Sun" and in the 2002-2003-2004-2005 Editions of the Biennial guide to Canadian Artists in Galleries.

"I paint the colours that I see in landscapes and surroundings. The greys and greens of where I live are too cool for me, I pump them up, in my paintings. You can still 'read' them even though you know that a road isn't purple."
Born on the west coast, Jill pursued careers in fashion design and decorating before becoming a painter.
Her love of strong colour is evident in her vibrant landscapes and oversized florals. "I was always talking clients into more colour in their selection for walls and furniture."
She enjoys painting in both oil and acrylic mediums.
Jill resides in the lower mainland of British Columbia, Canada, with her family and pets.
Jill is a current member of the South Delta Artists Guild and a member of the Federation of Canadian Artists.
