Sandra Chapman was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and has lived in various parts of Canada. Having resided in British Columbia since 1991, initially on the West Coast and now making her home in the beautiful Okanagan Valley, Sandra is continually inspired by the diversity and beauty of the Canadian landscape. Sandra began to explore her love of painting in 2001 through workshops and as a student in the Fine Arts department of Okanagan University College although she is primarily self-taught.

Sandra’s paintings reflect her interpretation of the relationships she sees in nature. “When I look at trees for example, I see not only the trees, but the spaces between them and the way they relate to each other and other aspects of the landscape. To me, nature mirrors and reflects universally experienced emotions such as joy, passion, solitude, connection and disconnection. I attempt to capture the essence of these relationships in my paintings.” Sandra loves to paint on a larger scale, using bold color and dramatic composition.

Angela Morgan completed her Bachelor in Fine Arts degree in 2000 ended a lenghty stretch of university education. Angela attended Bismarch State College in North Dakota, Cancordia University in Montreal, University of Regina and the University of Calgary. Angela's work celebrates humanity through the use of color, pattern, and line. Her human figures express the poses of life, the jubilation of dance, the contemplation of parenthood, and the melancholy of summer's end. Colours fuse and meld to achieve gesture; transforming abstart images into living moments.

Born in Hungary in 1946, Andrew and his family immigrated to Canada in 1957. He has become one of Canada's most recognized nature artists for a style that captures both breathless images and a reverence for realism.
Releasing over 110 limited editions and involvement with many organizations such as Ducks Unlimited and BC Wildlife Federation have made Andrew a highly recognized name worldwide.

Forty years from the start of his career Andrew has come full circle. Only painting landscapes and no longer producing limited edition prints have allowed him to focus on other projects. Sharing his love for the outdoors and passing this to future generations was important to Andrew as he illustrated four children’s books: A Mountain Alphabet, When We Go Camping, Wild Babies and Cool Woods. All books have received critical acclaim and can be found in stores across Canada. The Ministry of Education in BC is sending 50,000 copies of A Mountain Alphabet as part of a reading initiative to kindergarten students throughout the province.

Exhibits have allowed Andrew to travel to Hong Kong, Switzerland, England, Austria, New Zealand, Germany, as well as throughout the US and Canada. His work can be found in numerous collections around the world.

Julia Lucich
My approach to art is similar to my approach to life: I relish variety. My formal education was decidedly un-artistic; degrees in sociology and criminology led to years of highly analytical work. Meanwhile, a part of me yearned for something more expressive, and I found myself drawn to painting (in particular, to portraiture), with a nagging certainty that "I can do that". I was fortunate to come under the tutelage of master portraitist Bob Gerbracht whose instruction was in pastel, a medium that I immediately embraced for its vibrancy and spontaneity.
Continuing to work in a representational style, I found that color, for its own sake, had the ability to influence the power and impact of a painting. In 1995 I was working on a painting of giraffes, whose astonishing shapes and contours seemed to lend themselves to an outrageous approach. I chose to introduce color totally outside the normal range, and the result was one of unexpected whimsy. This painting gave birth to the Party Animal Series, and was selected by USArt magazine as "Editor's Choice" for wildlife.
The Party Animals remain a compelling force, transcending the genre of "wildlife art" and appealing to anyone looking outside the box.
Often my portraits or figurative paintings have a narrative quality, with a focus on dramatic lighting that emphasizes mood and emotion. But no matter what I'm painting, I want the image to convey a positive energy, allowing the viewer to connect with the joy of life.

Kathi is a BC stone sculptor, working mainly in Alabaster, Soapstone and Marble.

From the first moment she was introduced to stone carving almost fifteen years ago, she felt a connection to, and passion for stone. Kathi studied Alabaster carving at the Art Academy of Vancouver and continues her education at the West Coast Stone Sculptors’ annual symposium.

Kathi loves the vast spectrum of mineral content found in stones, that produces a variety of colours, bringing life to her work. The texture and tactile aspects of the medium guide her in letting the finished sculpture, be it animal or human (or neither), emerge from the stone, appearing in motion.

Kathi has done work for both private and corporate collectors and is represented in BC by the Jenkins Showler Gallery in White Rock, the Avenue Gallery in Oak Bay, Victoria and most recently, by the Towne Gallery in Oakville, Ontario. She also teaches Soapstone carving at local schools and community centres, always eager to inspire a new generation of stone carvers. She is former secretary and current registrar of the West Coast Sculpture Association. Kathi was born in Niagara Falls, Ontario, and studied French at McMaster University. After mastering four languages, she is happiest letting the stone speak to her to do her most creative work!

Nothing excites me more than using my imagination. To dream a sculpture, draw it, and then form it into a work that will make people smile, is a wonderful thing". Working with metals ranging from paper-thin, to 20 ton sheets in every imaginable application, has given Greg a vast knowledge of his chosen material. He is known for his stylized, innovative and often-humourous steel sculptures. Polished figues in flowing lines, dynamic curves and contemporary subject matter form the essence of Greg's art.

"I paint the colours that I see in landscapes and surroundings. The greys and greens of where I live are too cool for me, I pump them up, in my paintings. You can still 'read' them even though you know that a road isn't purple."
Born on the west coast, Jill pursued careers in fashion design and decorating before becoming a painter.
Her love of strong colour is evident in her vibrant landscapes and oversized florals. "I was always talking clients into more colour in their selection for walls and furniture."
She enjoys painting in both oil and acrylic mediums.
Jill resides in the lower mainland of British Columbia, Canada, with her family and pets.
Jill is a current member of the South Delta Artists Guild and a member of the Federation of Canadian Artists.

Anne-Marie works mainly in her studio in Richmond, B.C. …near the village of Steveston, at a point where a branch of the Fraser River joins the Pacific Ocean. Her painting career spans 30 years…23 years as a watercolourist and the last 7 she has worked primarily in oils. She paints on stretched canvas and on Baltic birch, wood panels ranging in size from 24 inches square up to 84 inches and beyond. Anne-Marie carefully finishes the edges of the panels that are trimmed with kiln-dried, Douglas fir. She sands them smooth and seals the edges with a matte varnish so that the panels may be hung framed or unframed as a finished painting.

Painting in what could be described as an "Old Masters" - almost Renaissance - style, Dongmin Lai demonstrates a mastery of brushwork that is both direct and spontaneous. Many of his works depicting a rural lifestyle in China make it appear almost medieval in its apparent lack of modernization.

Born in China in 1957, Dongmin Lai received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Beijing Teacher's University and studied at China's Academy of Fine Arts. In 1986 Dongmin Lai became a member of the Chinese Fine Art Association and proceeded to hold several shows in the National Gallery and the Capitol Museum in Beijing. Two of his paintings were chosen for the Museum's permanent collection. In October of 1991 he was awarded China's prestigious Silver Medal for oil painting.

Dongmin Lai paints in very deep, rich colours and as well as his scenes of country life, he paints Chinese landscape, including the canals of Suchow, and exquisite, finely detailed portraits.

He has been painting professionally for about sixteen years, the last four of which have been spent in British Columbia. His work may be found in private and corporate collections in China, Singapore, Taiwan, Japan, the United States and Canada.

Artists and Laura Salisbury paints primarily in acrylic. Her painting foundation in watercolor continues to influence her style today, evident in washes of diluted paint and in the conscious effort to leave exposed some of the underpainting of canvas, to help it glow. Laura’s work has evolved but still shows the in-depth observation evident in her previous realistic work. Today her paintings show a more minimalist approach to rendering the subject, using a limited monochromatic palette and glazing techniques to evoke a sense of mood or emotion. Textured mediums and metallic paints are stimulating further experimentation.
Laura’s paintings are less about telling a story than they are of expressing a feeling – often calm, quiet, soft. For whatever reason an image or object evokes an emotion or delight or closer scrutiny, she says it spurs her desire to paint it rather than to explain it. Laura still relies on some solid construct of the image and composition, but enjoys finding her way by emphasizing texture or lines to completion.
Laura received art education at the University of Saskatchewan. Now living in Kelowna, she has taken advantage of studio programs at OUC, at the Kelowna Art Gallery and has participated in various workshops with a number of distinguished artists.
Laura’s work has been shown at Innovation Place University of Saskatchewan, at Rotary Center for the Arts, at the Kelowna Art Gallery, at group shows with Impressions in private collections.

Jonn's soulful paintings focus on two vastly different scapes - the prairies and the sea - but they are inherently joined by his inner connection to the unadulterated freedom of open spaces.

Jonn's prairie works delve deep into his own roots and philosophies, reflecting lives, perspectives and memories.

Jonn's passion for space and light, so evident in his prairie images, extend to his ocean paintings. In those, the power of nature is captured with flourishes of drama; often waves engaged in a dangerous dance, spray sparkling in the sunlight. It is that kind of raw expression that creates the sense of awe that has come to define Jonn Einerssen's paintings.
