Born in Prague in the Czech Republic, Ed Ambros studied Fine Arts and Drama at the Academy of Arts in Bratislava, receiving a Masters of Arts in both of these disciplines. In 1968, with all the political turmoil in his homeland, he immigrated to Canada.
Ed taught art for the Carleton Board of Education (now the Ottawa Board) for over twenty years and was the head of the Art Department at Colonel By High School. He also taught drama as an assistant professor at the University of Ottawa.
Ed Ambros has created numerous works of corporate and decorative art for high-tech companies and hotels; over 8,000 pieces of his work have been sold in Ontario alone. His works are also held in corporate and private collections in Vancouver, California, and the Hawaiian Islands.
