Best known for her striking oil paintings of bears, Erica Neumann paints a wide variety of subjects. Her strong brushwork and dramatic colouration are intended to match the nature of each animal she paints. Particular attention is given to painting each animal’s eyes, intending to convey to the viewer an emotional connection.
A graduate of the Ontario College of Art – Fine Art Program, Neumann also studied Art History at the University of Guelph. It was after moving to the province of Alberta, where she still resides with her family, that she found her passion for painting bears and other wild creatures.
Although Erica also paints landscapes, wildlife is still the main focus of her paintings, and she says of her own work, “The colour and brushstrokes seem to be growing wilder every year!”
As a professional artist for over thirty years, Erica Neumann has exhibited in galleries and museums in both Canada and the United States. In 2018, she was invited to exhibit her work at the prestigious “Hockaday Museum” in Kallispell Montana, U.S.A., in the show, “A Timeless Legacy: Peace Park 2018”.
Gallery 421 has been proudly representing Erica Neumann since 2013.
